Coral Story

This is one of my favorite dresses which I've had with me since Circa 2006 and it never fails me. I love it immensely as it is extremely flattering with the pleats and the halter-style neckline. More so, it is appropriate for day or night wear depending on how you accessorize and style it. I think aside from having an LBD, an LWD and a LRD... everyone should also have a few colorful dresses in their arsenal as it is a good investment and just like this dress you can wear it over and over again.

Peace Like A River

I love being away from the city sometimes. Yes, even I, who was born and raised in this thriving metropolis also needs a break from the hustle and bustle of city life which can get quite stressful enough that one tends to burn out and if anything... that is such a bad feeling. So here I am, city girl gone rural and I love it. This is my day out in the suburbs look and it is still quite corporate but it was a business trip that I had to attend to and even if I was working, it wasn't as fast paced and busy as it is back in the Makati Head Office and so there was more than sufficient time to unwind, take photos and relax- bask in the fresh air and take in the river before me which unlike the river in Manila (which you smell first before you see...) is a sight to behold. I had a theme that particular weekend and it revolved around red, white and blue. It was quite patriotic but I have always loved the combination because it has quite a nautical feel to it... a theme that if you must know I am so obsessed about.

Autumn Afternoon

“I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

For most people, I am sure, October seems like such an awkward month. It signals in a lot of changes and transformations happen.  I have come to realize now that transformation sometimes begins with a fall. So never curse the fall. Personally, I am learning to embrace all the seasons and the changes that accompany it. I find that there is something nostalgic and significant about the season. Out with the old, in with the new... transformation is such a wonderful and often unappreciated thing. As with seasons changing, so does my outfit configurations and I find myself removing all the cool and casual ensembles from my rack and start to layer. There is nothing more that signifies the start of a new season for a fashion blogger than a change in outfits pending. There is an adjustment but in time, we learn and get accustomed to it. I sure did which is why it is absolutely so easy for me to discard my summer clothes and immerse myself in layers and knits and cold weather wear. Adapting to the changes is key. So here I am getting all knitty gritty in my favorite and fail safe fall staples: a cozy knit wrap that is so soft that one can snuggle in it. I find a strange sense of comfort in wearing clothes that keep me warm and are at the same time fuzzy. The weather definitely does not dictate for something that is too binding and uncomfortable.

A Better Version Of Me

Lately, I've been more than busy as I have decided to get up and go to the office and work from there. I once heard this popular saying that goes, “Find something you love to do, and you'll never work a day in your life” and I now that I am finally part of the workforce, I have a deeper understanding of this saying. Well, aside from the fact that I absolutely do enjoy going to work and of course, what I do, I am also quite happy to be also challenged to dress up more creatively. I never quite got it then but my outfits have always been more loud and playful even when I was in my early twenties well much into even after I turned 25. I guess that's what having your own business and being your own boss is all about: the perks. Eventually though, I had to outgrow that stage. My friend, Jamm, told me a few days ago that she has noticed that my outfit choice and style has metamorphosed into a more mellow and neutral palette... I must admit I have been going for less loud color schemes and more structured and architectural silhouettes and I didn't really think anyone would notice it because I was actually doing it on purpose... but hey, it worked apparently as it was pretty noticeable to the people around me. I grew up... my outfit choices grow up with me... but that doesn't mean you would be spared the shock of an altogether different look. As I say, my style is very bipolar and hypomanic but also, the things going on in my life play a great role in how I choose what to wear.  Now that I am experiencing how it is like to be part of the workforce (even if I am Executive Director, I am still answerable to people) and find the need to perform. Given that, I have been choosing ensembles that are more appropriate as office attire as I think how I carry myself in the office also represents the organization I am in. I think that it is all about the entire package when I get into something. I don't quite understand the concept of half-baked.

Tribe Vibe

I love pink and if you have not heard yet- to quote Aerosmith's song Pink, "Pink is my favorite crayon" and this could not be illustrated any more than in this outfit where I am in an aztec/ tribal printed coordinates which if you remember, I wore but in a different print in a previous post which you can view HERE. I styled it differently this time and opted for woven multi-color heels and a simpler necklace rather than the chartreuse statement necklace and the sky-high fierce shoes I wore the first style of the outfit from. It was probably my last ditch effort to still feel summer as this outfit is best worn to beat the heat but as recent events (Please pray for my country, the Philippines as we recover from Typhoon Glenda) and time has proven, the monsoon season is officially here and it came in with quite a bang, and I do not mean that in a good way. Anyway, it will take another six months of waiting till sunlight and summer, but that's the thing about seasons that is constant: they change. I do hope you enjoyed the look!

Sour Cherry

And the pink saga continues... but this time with a darker, cherry/ watermelon hued sweater.
Oversized sweaters (those long enough to be dresses) are a favorite of mine. They're ultra comfortable and can be dressed up or down depending on one's mood. More so, they're every closet geek's wardrobe staple.

(Bow detail beret from Aldo, Sweater dress from Zara, White lace tanktop from Topshop. Knee highs from Marks and Spencer, Wedged Suede boots by Topshop, Accessories by Forever21. Purse by Celine)

As always, never settling for being boring or dull, I decided to go overdrive on the accessories which are a mix of my two most favorite things ever: bows and studs. I always just choose one or the other but this time I decided to mix and match it up. I wore a studded belt to cinch the sweater and the look together so as not to look to stuffy/ holidays-ish and at the same time to toughen up the look. I am always a big fan of rockstar styling pink with studs. At the same time, I decided to add cute bows in the form of my beret from Aldo (I also got this in red) which has a teensy bow design though I am not so sure that's seen in the shot. Added a few more ribbon elements, ie., my bow leather cuff and bow ring from Forever21 and a glitter bow hair clip which I used a broach/pin, also from Forever21. To keep the Parisian preppy tourist vibe going, I wore black knee high socks with Suede wedges from Topshop. It's very school girl but I am loving the thigh high boots effect the socks + wedged shoes achieved.

It's a simple look and I was ultra comfy and warm in it considering it's been raining the past few days... What a very warm and fuzzy way to brave the rain with a oversize knit sweater, seriously! Time to whip out those cardigans and sweater, guys! Summer is officially a thing of the past...
