On Breaking Ground

Fresh starts. Put your past behind you, and start over. It is hard to resist the chance at a new beginning. A chance to put the problems of the past to bed. But who gets to determine when the old ends and the new begins? It is not a day in the calendar, not a birthday, not a new year. It is an event. Big or small. Something that changes us. Ideally, it gives us hope.

A new way of living and looking at the world- letting go of old habits, old memories. What is important is that we never stop believing we can have a new beginning. But it's also important to remember that amid all the crap are a few things really worth holding on to.

This was the outfit I wore to a very important day in my life and starting over (yet again) as I wore this to the ground breaking of my soon to be future home which I find something good to look forward to. Hopefully, like me, this represents a transition into something new, something bigger and better. This is also what makes the outfit quite monumental. It signifies a fresh start and a new beginning for me.

A Better Version Of Me

Lately, I've been more than busy as I have decided to get up and go to the office and work from there. I once heard this popular saying that goes, “Find something you love to do, and you'll never work a day in your life” and I now that I am finally part of the workforce, I have a deeper understanding of this saying. Well, aside from the fact that I absolutely do enjoy going to work and of course, what I do, I am also quite happy to be also challenged to dress up more creatively. I never quite got it then but my outfits have always been more loud and playful even when I was in my early twenties well much into even after I turned 25. I guess that's what having your own business and being your own boss is all about: the perks. Eventually though, I had to outgrow that stage. My friend, Jamm, told me a few days ago that she has noticed that my outfit choice and style has metamorphosed into a more mellow and neutral palette... I must admit I have been going for less loud color schemes and more structured and architectural silhouettes and I didn't really think anyone would notice it because I was actually doing it on purpose... but hey, it worked apparently as it was pretty noticeable to the people around me. I grew up... my outfit choices grow up with me... but that doesn't mean you would be spared the shock of an altogether different look. As I say, my style is very bipolar and hypomanic but also, the things going on in my life play a great role in how I choose what to wear.  Now that I am experiencing how it is like to be part of the workforce (even if I am Executive Director, I am still answerable to people) and find the need to perform. Given that, I have been choosing ensembles that are more appropriate as office attire as I think how I carry myself in the office also represents the organization I am in. I think that it is all about the entire package when I get into something. I don't quite understand the concept of half-baked.

Rapid Hope Loss

Sometimes you've got to fold before you're found out.
Tulle with embroidered trim cape: Topshop
Tank top: Topshop
Skirt: Glitterati
Shoes: Online
Bag: Chanel
Necklace: +Ruckus

Wore this outfit to Music Trivia Night which is sort of a Thursday tradition with friends over at Ronza. I was quite lazy to dress up that day so I settled for all black and then a kimono type cape as a cover-up / something to make the outfit a little less bland. Unfortunately, it was yet another wrong call, on my part as I froze that night and incessantly played with my useless cover up since it didn't really cover anything and provided zero warmth whatsoever. I find it strange I've been shivering a lot lately... what is up with that?

Another blacked out blur night which I should not have done again as I had a very early morning shoot the next day for something I shall share very very soon. Hope my laziness and shivering somehow worked to my advantage.

xx

Bullet for my Valentine

There are hearts all over the world tonight.
Tulle cape: Glitterati
Eyelet day dress
Shoes: Miu Miu Swallow Print Platform Maryjanes
Bag: Satin clutch from SM Parisian designed by my friend, Audrey Ednacot
Accessories: Forever 21

Wore this for Valentines Day, hoping it would somehow give me a sweet and sunny disposition on hearts day aka. Singles Awareness Day. It did help somehow and nothing cheers me up more than pink + pastels so I guess somehow the day didn't suck as much as it was supposed to (or I thought it would). I had quite an eventful day- hospital checkup, errands (inventory and fabric sourcing), work and a work/meetup with my friends. It was intensely comfortable, and totally perfect for the very sunny day (summer is coming, yaaaay!)

And in true valentine fashion, here's my greeting for all of you: Even if I'm single and thus naturally pre-programmed to hate February 14, I'm all for love, and for celebrating it. So for those who believe in this day, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY everyone!

xx
