Burning Bridges

"Send this out to sea.  Send it where you want it. You can take it note for note and not at all. There’s no filling up your spaces with fictionary places...Imaginary faces they don’t work at all...I keep on running...I’m building bridges that I know you never wanted"

-Burning Bridges, One Republic

Burning Bridges. v. (idiomatic expression)-   One of the worst and also best experience... To burn a bridge is to break away from a person close to you, who you have consistently been on good terms and have had happy memories together. A simpler way: burning up your connections with someone important to you that has become toxic and no longer good for you. I've been wanting to discuss this and this entry was the perfect opportunity to do so...well, because, I am in a bridge. I know a lot of my entries have been revolving around conservative work wear recently because that is what I do and what I love doing. However, let's all take a break from that and have some fun. This is as far as it goes for edgy and rebellious for me. I look back at the days when I could get away with studded and grommet outfits and laugh because I am no longer at the age where I can pull all that off. However, I can do a cropped top, some printed trousers and a blazer with some streak of rocker chic via the hint of silver spikes at the shoulder area. It may be a mature piece- this black blazer- but at least it combines contemporary and classic all in one. I like pieces that are like that.

Fine China

Everyone always mistakes me for being either Japanese or Korean...save for some of my Chinese friends who actually assume I am Chinese and think I went to an all-girls Chinese school. I didn't and  don't consider myself Chinese even if my paternal grandmother migrated from China and my dad is practically 50% Chinese, which makes me about 35%. I take up after my father in the looks department so I understand why this is a common assumption and some readers do comment that I actually look more Chinese than Domz who is actually 50% and I have to remind them, Dominique is a cross-breed and her German features are much more prominent in the looks department. As for me, I'm all Asian and apparently did not inherit any Spanish trait from my mother's side in the physical department...not that I am complaining... since I love how I look. Tropical Punch

I am yearning for the sunny days that are now replaced by heavy rains and thunder booms and what better way to express my eternal love for summer than in what I am wearing? I did exactly just that and wore this pair of palm tree printed trousers which is my own little way of protest in praise of the sun. Of course...it rained but not even that can dampen my spirits which I have to say have been exuberant. I guess having a great support system in the form of a stable relationship with my family and a very select few friends empowers one to survive the rainstorms of life. And, while there is a possibility that there will be people who exist solely to rain on your parade, it's nice to know that the shelter that people who genuinely care for you and love you will provide will leave you damage-free and able to weather any storm.

What Else Is There?

Country Strong.
(Top: Topshop | Leopard Belt: Vintage | Skirt: Forever21 | Shoes: Zara | Bag: Topshop)

I resurrected my love for tawny brown and blue- very Marlboro Country meets Western Chic- I know, simple because this was one of my favorite trends from 2010-2011. I adore the two colors combined for some weird reason as it looks rustic and well, they contrast well and so I wore this outfit on a Sunny Sunday which I traditionally spend with my brother at the Rockwell Mall. Tied my hair up and a big bun as I was too lazy to style my hair down.

PS: I am selling this skirt AND MORE (Read: CLOTHES, SHOES, BAGS, ACCESSORIES) at this weekend's BLOGGERS UNITED II Bazaar so do come by and SHOP SHOP SHOP!

Cinders and Smoke

Flight of the Concords.
(Bird print maxi dress: Topshop | Shoes: GIFTS AHOY | Tank Top: Topshop | Bag: Vintage Italian)

I decided to finally wear this sparrow-esque printed maxi dress from Topshop layered under a tied up sleeveless tanktop for a not so quiet boo day with my girl Kato turned Music Trivia Night over at Burgos Circle. I love GNO Wednesdays- it's basically the one night of the week that I go out- and this was a last for me provided I got fever and the flu the next day. (Still recovering, wish me luck!)

I love these boots which I got from the recent SuperSale Bazaar- GIFTS AHOY.. And so my monochromachic streak continues....

xx, JL
