How You Get The Girl

“Diamonds are held under tons and tons of pressure, extremely high temperatures of fire and shuffled under shifting of tectonic plates, for a long, long time! Yet when they come out from there and are put on display for their beauty; does anybody stop to evaluate the diamond based upon all the shit it's been through and say "Remember that disgusting hole it used to be in? I bet it was hell in there!" No, people don't remember where a diamond has come from; they just see the beauty of it now. But it wouldn't have become so beautiful, you know, if not for all of that! So why should we look at other people, or at ourselves and evaluate them/ourselves based upon their/our pasts? Shouldn't we forget that? And only see the beauty that is in front of our eyes? Whatever it was, it made you beautiful! And that is what matters!”

I mentioned a few posts back that I had quite a busy week since despite feeling sick, I had certain commitments that I have already confirmed my attendance for and one of them was on a Friday night where I was chosen to judge the Mr. and Ms. College of Home Economics at U.P. Diliman. Along with my fellow judges who are, I have to say, talented and respectable in the industry were Alma Concepcion, Arnold Galang, Albert Andrade and the Dean of the College of Home Economics Dr. Aurorita T. Roldan. I was quite honored to be part of a panel of such big name and revered personalities and I was more than happy to represent the social media and blogging world and made sure to try my best to objective as possible. Personally, I used to be invited to judge pageants in universities but rarely accepted. However, since I wanted to show my support for the college, I went for it and I was glad I did. The pageant wasn't all about who looked better or who had the most incredible gown but a large percentage of the rating system was on their ability to communicate and answer questions impromptu (which we asked them) and also in their talent and portion area. It was such an amazing experience and I got a bit nostalgic about my college days. In this day and age we live in and in the industry I belong to, there is so much emphasis put on how you look that it is almost the one main facet our lives must revolve around. I find it silly. On the get go, this is also why I hate meeting people randomly like in a bar setting or in a club because everything is so objectified. First impressions revolve around your exterior appearance and while I may seem fashionable and cute, I think my personality is more of what makes me... me. To relate that to my outfit, I try to incorporate how I feel as much as possible to my outfit and well, this dainty ensemble seemed perfect for that day.

On Breaking Ground

Fresh starts. Put your past behind you, and start over. It is hard to resist the chance at a new beginning. A chance to put the problems of the past to bed. But who gets to determine when the old ends and the new begins? It is not a day in the calendar, not a birthday, not a new year. It is an event. Big or small. Something that changes us. Ideally, it gives us hope.

A new way of living and looking at the world- letting go of old habits, old memories. What is important is that we never stop believing we can have a new beginning. But it's also important to remember that amid all the crap are a few things really worth holding on to.

This was the outfit I wore to a very important day in my life and starting over (yet again) as I wore this to the ground breaking of my soon to be future home which I find something good to look forward to. Hopefully, like me, this represents a transition into something new, something bigger and better. This is also what makes the outfit quite monumental. It signifies a fresh start and a new beginning for me.

Hello, sunshine!

Green Leafy.
(Maxi Dress: Moonshine | Sandals: Aldo | Bag: Aldo | Earrings and accessories: Cultus ChiChi)

I wore a lime green leafy printed maxi dress from my friends' Kato and Audrey's brand Moonshine and I absolutely adore it. The sun was out on the bright and shiny Saturday afternoon and I decided this was the perfect Lil-Miss-Sunshine outfit to do errands, have my hair colored and cut and have mass with my brother over at Rockwell. I decided to wear flats (for the first time?) as I wanted the tropical beach getaway vibe. How I miss summer!

Shoes: ALDO
Blazer: H&M

Saturday Night Live.

Went out with my BFF, Nina and her boyfriend to toast to Glitterati's 2nd year Anniversary and we decided to check out an ultra hip neo-Japanese sake bar/ resto called ROBOT which was quite amazing. I decided to wear a super hot Glitterati dress (in honor of my brand of course) from our new Holiday collection 2010. It's quite a simple jersey strapless LBD with an awesome mesh detail at the middle part, which also features a peek of skin in the waist area without being too vulgar or revealing. All in all, the perfect single girl's Little Black Dress for a Saturday night out. I decided to cover it up though with a mini H&M bolero blazer with a cute Military rope trim...It is after all quite chilly esp. with December starting off.

I loved the concept and the design so much of the place ROBOT, I took so much photos....

TRIO.
My BFF Nina, her boyfriend Jed and me (third-wheeling)

Out from under.
Who would not love upside down tables (below) and constant light change all over? (the place lights up in red, amber, purple, blue)

Disco ball Bathroom.
I dreamed of a wall covered top to toe in mosaic disco ball mirrors. This was way phenomenal.
The sink is so sci-fi too I love it!

Longest bathroom break ever. Vanity at its purest!

And there's an LCD screen too inside the cubicle!!!!

Went to Attica after (as always) and had an early but fun Saturday night out.
Happy 2nd anniversary Glitterati!

(Do wait for our Holiday collection- to be released this week!)
I know you'll love it.
