One Hundred Tears To Solitude

“Things have a life of their own," the gypsy proclaimed with a harsh accent. "It's simply a matter of waking up their souls.”

- Gabriel Garcia Marquez, One Hundred Years of Solitude

When you are on top of the world and when everything seems to be going your way, the warm sun hits your shoulders just right. Worries, fears, neuroses are carried away with the wind at your back as you exhale like me in this case and I was able to take in the serene ocean view. The ordinary and mundane became extraordinary and as with this photo, colors appear more vivid, the world was more wonderful and the sounds of nature is more melodious. In this photo of me in the beach (inspired by the amazing Nicole Warne), you can see the color in every shot... every thing looks so alive. In these small moments everything is good and right in the universe. In this moment, I actually believe that nothing can ever bring me down. Of course, that would be easy to say granted that I am in my most perfect environment: by the beach, eating fruits and watching the waves crash on the shore. Granted I am also lacking some articles of clothing as it was appropriate for the environment, I felt that I didn't have to try at all... there was no fussing or fretting about whether my clothes fit me alright or if I wore the right shoes for my outfit. Surprisingly, I find myself in such an incongruous situation: here I am, a fashion blogger who preferred to be in less clothes!  Well, at least on the days I am out of town and where it's appropriate to be dressed this way. I've always been a walking contradiction but I guess that stems out from the fact that I know what I want and who I am and nobody can dictate me to be something else. There are days, like the day I took this photo, that I needed to be alone and far away from all the things and people just for a while. I find myself enjoying taking breaks such as these. I am at the beach, it is not summer and it is a weekday. I have no one to impress and I have no one to answer to. In this moment, I am purely just me.

Waves Crashing: Of Rocky Shores, Rocky Roads and Hitting Rock Bottom

"Soul surfing to me is what you do when you are thoroughly in the moment- enjoying and expressing yourself on the wave and being one with the ocean."

- Tom Carrol, Australian Surfer

We encounter waves in every minute of every day. There are the light waves which make things visible and sound waves so we can hear. I was at the beach (my favorite retreat away from life and the best place for introspection) and I observed the behavior of the waves. On this rocky shore of the Punta Fuego beach, (a secret spot that I found) I could see how energy changes from one state to another and back again as the waves came crashing madly against the rocks. So I may not be on my best shape ever and I am fully crediting the fact that I am not consistent with my "gym, tan, juice" life as it is the "off season" and I am giving my body a break from the drought Labor Day at Boracay has brought upon. Just like the tides, my body also goes through changes: high and low. But no matter where the wind blows, I am comfortable in my own skin to know that I am beautiful just the way I am and my value as a person does not rely on the value stated on the weighing scale. As long as I am into clean and healthy living, I am more than happy... I am fulfilled.

Of Settlements, Settling the Score and Not Settling for Less: Know You Deserve Better

Traditionally, red is a very vibrant color and is ideally used to celebrate something (well in the Chinese and Asian culture anyway...) Personally, I never regarded red in a negative way and do not associate it with anger, war or danger. Instead, I always thought red was a very intense color that I associate with strength, power, passion and desire. I usually do not use the color solely on an outfit... I use it as an accent instead. That is obviously not the case with this outfit since as you can see, I wore a vibrant red silk satin dress and Lanvin pumps in the same hue (it was so matchy-matchy that both items even had bow details). It is all so very monochromatic and all so very red but I ended up taking a risk and loved it. I kept everything else simple and fuss-free and to avoid overkill, I decided not to accessorize anymore. I reckon I am feeling a bit more empowered these days and I decided to spice things up - as I always do when it comes to fashion choices and wore red on red. It's funny how I went full-on committed to the color but then again, that is just me... I never do half-baked and when I do something, it's all about going all in.

Emotions in Check

Sun Protection Factor.

Hat: Zara | Top and Skirt: Glitterati | Shoes: Payless | Purse: Bottega Venetta | Accessories: Cultus Chichi | Sunnies: Mango | Bandeau: La Senza

Beach bound. I’ve been nagging about how much I miss the beach and I finally (finally!) got a beach trip (even for just a day) the other day and I was basically half asleep as I planned this outfit. Not wanting to get dark, I decided to make use of my woven floppy hat as coverage from the harsh rays of the sun. I’ve always been a beach baby…always was, always will be, which is why it is essential I had a sun hat so as not to burn

I was quite lazy to dress up for the beach as we left very very early so I went for the basics. I used a semi sheer coverup as a blouse, tied it around my wait and layered that over a black bandeau. I wore it with a brown maxi skirt, wedged heels and my new cateye Mango sunnies and I was incognito and ready to hit the sun, sand and sea.

I had a great time! And cant wait to max the beach out for whatever is left for summer! More photos of my beach escape at the next post!

Candy coated water drops

Spring is in the air.
Vest: Zara
Floral Maxi Dress: Mango
Shoes: Online
Bag: Vintage Nina Ricci
Necklace: Nicole Whisenhunt
Hair Accessory: Topshop

I've been feeling quite optimistic lately... I figure the sunny weather must have something to do with my sunny and quite cheerful disposition. So on a very sunny Friday when I was to run errands the whole day, I decided to let the sunshine in with a floral maxi day dress with killer accessories to boot under a cropped safari vest. There's nothing to brighten up one's day than a happy outfit and I reckon it kind of worked even if I was a wee bit melodramatic mid-afternoon. I was also able to wear this dress from day to night (yes-the WHOLE day!) as I met with my BFF and friends over at Barcino Rockwell for some good old wining and dining.

Nothing going on today

Beige vest: Mango
Tank top: Zara
Polka dotted shorts: Glitterati
Layered accessories: Glitterati
Shoes: Wisteria chiffon wedges from Topshop

Blogger's note: I apologize for the bruises. I have yet to find out the cause of my never ending bruising.

Last day of the Supersale Bazaar and I was just so lazy to dress up.
Who knew, there would come a day I'd just wake up and put on the most effortless thing I could pickup? (I hope it's not that obvious though, I mean I did accessorize)
Anyway it was a pretty sunny day so I decided it was just fitting I wear a very summer casual look of shorts, a safari vest and a loose tanktop. I did layer on my chain necklaces (a fave accessory of mine from my brand) and of course, my extra special black Wisteria wedges from Topshop which I love so much still. (I can't get enough of it!)

It was a fun day! In case you missed it, here's a photo of our booth in all angles...

Perfect way to cap off the weekend and I bought myself a lime green Herve Leger dress which I am so excited to wear (still waiting for an occasion though!)
