Locked In My Own Daze

I live in a generation where everyone always is all about what the new thing is. While I think that may indeed be a good thing, since having something new always means there is development and progress, I cannot help but think that sometimes, reverting back to the old, the tried and the tested matters too. I've heard it all happen over and over again, people complain about doing the same old thing. I don't quite know when it happened exactly when the "same old thing" became synonymous with "boring" and I know that such a generalization is absolutely false. I find comfort in the classics which is probably why I find rummaging through my mom's old clothes so much fun. Case in point: this dress.

Like The Sun has The Day

Spring Awakening.
(Button Down Sleeveless Top: Topshop | Skirt: Vintage | Shoes: Zara | Belt: Vintage Italian from Mom | Bag: Marc Jacobs | Accessories: Forever21)

Decided to go for a conservative and retro look with this vintage inspired outfit which was subconsciously influenced by The Help- one of my fave movies of 2011 and Zooey Deschanel's sweet girl take on the '5os - '60s era. The top is a cropped button down with a waist tie detail (Daisy Duke would be proud). I paired this with a full floral skirt which had a beautiful mix of citrus hues, which I got circa 2005 from a College friend. I cinched it then with a beige vintage belt from mom (as it was too loose) and finished off with neutral accessories and an orange hued pair of satin shoes from Zara.

Keep the look classic and clean and in line with the theme with pearl accessories

A bright hued shoe is a must in every girl's closet and can wake up even a pastel outfit...

Shimmy and shake in a floral skirt with dainty prints. Add a belt to cinch it perfectly.

A neutral toned bag will fit any outfit.. I especially love my Marc Jacobs Stam Bag!

For my makeup, I used orange-reddish lipstick and kept everything simple. My hair was a chic braided up-do so as not to distract attention from the details of my outfit.

xx, JL

Love burns brighter than sunshine...

The day was extraordinary. I woke up to a sunny and hot day, which is a rarity back here where rain and wind is plaguing us for the next 6 months. So I decided to dress accordingly and I had quite the sunny disposition… who wouldn’t in this gorgeous dress, right? I got the dress from my friend Lissa ’s brand, Love Vintage, which sells gorgeous vintage and thrifted pieces for quite a bargain! I love their current collection, as modeled by fellow Chictopian, fashion blogger and Glitterati muse, Kookie who rocked the pieces thus making me so tempted to buy… and buy (a lot) I did!

PURPLE REIGN.
My purple purse which matches my shoes perfectly were sponsored by my friend Audrey, who designs and manufactures these and more gorgeous designs. Get your hand on this awesome piece as it is sold under Parisian, in all SM Department Stores. I love how reasonably priced yet handy and fabulous her bags are!

It was definitely love at first wear…I adore the colors and print of the dress since the flowers are big and the purple blue hues are magical together. But what got me really head over heels for this was the sailor style collar and the huge buttons which were just phenomenal especially since nobody really makes details like that anymore. I went for purple and gray accessories to keep the look quite consisted and I resurrected my satin Nine West evening Mary Janes which have magenta and violet combined. I am so glad I didn’t throw these shoes or sell them since I forgot how comfy and useful they actually are! Wore them with socks to cute-ify the otherwise very elegant pair.

To turn a Monday bright and shiny, dress bright and shiny. Cause sometimes all it really takes is the right outfit and the right shoes to rock the day! Haha!
