The Rest Is Still Unwritten...

Today is the first blank page blog.
I have decided that this time around, I am writing a good one.

My mom and I were talking earlier today at 2:30 am (yes, unlike everyone else, I decided to spend my New Year after the clock struck 12 midnight at home...) and she asked me about what it was about my never ending obsession for sunrises. Again, yes, I am one of those people who bask in the dawn and absolutely love witnessing the sun ascend on the horizon. I have never been a sunset kind of girl. Probably, I surmise, it's because I hate endings but am absolutely obsessed about new beginnings. Granted that, I guess that by now, you would know that I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE new years. I love the fact that I am closing the chapter of one whole year behind me... no matter how good, bad or average it has been... I like that kind of closure. There is something about it that I find so fascinating. I love the feeling of at least being able to be given the chance of starting over again (even if everyone says there is no such thing as do-overs) and I love having a fresh 365-days ahead of me... filled with (and I say that with so much hope)- new chances...new experiences. A new year comes in and with it... the possibilities are endless.

I once stumbled upon this quote that goes, "An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays up until midnight to make sure the old one leaves..." Right now, granted everything that has happened, I am not quote sure which side of the pole I belong to... perhaps (and probably) a combination of both. To explain myself more clearly- I am happy and thankful for everything that I have been through and at the same time, I am looking forward to see what life has in store for me. "Cheers to a new year...another chance of getting things right..." I think Oprah said that or something.

Locked In My Own Daze

I live in a generation where everyone always is all about what the new thing is. While I think that may indeed be a good thing, since having something new always means there is development and progress, I cannot help but think that sometimes, reverting back to the old, the tried and the tested matters too. I've heard it all happen over and over again, people complain about doing the same old thing. I don't quite know when it happened exactly when the "same old thing" became synonymous with "boring" and I know that such a generalization is absolutely false. I find comfort in the classics which is probably why I find rummaging through my mom's old clothes so much fun. Case in point: this dress.

A Beautiful Goodbye: Buen Viaje, Enzo!

If there is one redeeming trait that I would be proud to have (although as self-deprecating as I am, I do know I actually do possess quite a lot of redeeming traits... haha, sorry!)- it would be that I am immensely dedicated to my family because at the end of the day, I do truly believe in the saying that at the end of the day, everyone can leave and betray you but family never will. I choose my friends carefully because with this aspect, I do get to make a choice. But I was born and grew up with my family and my dedication to them is unlimited. Of course, this also applies to new additions to my family such as in-laws who I love equally as well and this pertains to the extreme love I have for my FOSSIL, Dominique Tiu who I actually also consider as part of my family too, to provide an example. I have said that I am quite the introvert and I like my circle of friends small as my propensity to be by myself overtakes my ability to rub elbows with people. I find the idea of having to socialize absolutely draining and prefer to give my undivided attention to a few people rather than a tidbit of attention to a lot. This personality trait that I have had since I was quite young makes me fiercely loyal and when I do decided to consider someone as part of my core group: I go all out and sometimes, even out of the way when needed. Looking back at the past, friendships and boyfriends have come and gone but the essential members of my core group remain the same for over a decade and it almost always revolved around me and my brother. I am only a year older but he is by far, so many years wiser and more mature than I am. He is just so naturally protective of me. However, in 5 days, he embarks on a new journey to Spain and this gave me and Dominique the perfect occasion to celebrate him. He will be away for a good 2-3 years and that is quite some time and I don't really quite know how to deal with that yet. But before the emotional stuff, let us first focus on the fun ones and this came in the form of a chance to celebrate him and our experiences with him last July 23, 2014 over at Speakeasy Bar at the Ground Floor of Alphaland in Makati. It was a night to remember!!!
