High School Never Ends

The whole damn world is just as obsessed
With who‘s the best dressed,
Who‘s got the money, who gets the honeys,
Who‘s kinda cute and who‘s just a mess
And you still don’t have the right look
And you don’t have the right friends
Nothing changes but the faces, the names, and the trends
High school never ends

This song is so fitting. Whenever I encounter an issue or drama, all I can say is that I come up with the realization that, "High School never ends." I reckon it is also very similar to what John Mayer wrote in his song--- "I wanna run through the halls of my high school, I wanna scream at the Top of my lungs I just found out there's no such thing as the real world...Just a lie you've got to rise above" We thought we outgrew it but really, in real life, there still are cliques, there are still labels and ultimately, most of the problems we encountered and thought we would get over once we have crossed through the other side, are still the same problems we have but in a heightened, probably more relevant way. Also, probably, the reason why I could say that 'High School Never Ends', in my case, is because everything about this petty issue all stemmed out from the fact that some people never really left high school... and I mean that in the LITERAL sense. Call me passive aggressive, but I'm just saying...

Anyway, how does this relate to my outfit? Well for one, I am wearing one of my favorite shirts from Topshop, with the word GEEK written on it. (I am so obsessed with these shirts I also go t DORK and DWEEB, as they are, in my opinion, absolutely adorkable). But seriously,if I were to have an identifier back in high school, on to college and most probably until now, GEEK would be so fitting. (Granted, they don't have a shirt and probably never will that has B*TCH or CATTY or MS. NO FILTER in their roster of shirts.) I think at the end of the day, I think it's the fact I am poor in the use of euphemism, an overachiever and quite fluent in the language of sarcasm and a believer in the "What You See is What You Get" school of thought that makes me such. But for now, I will settle for GEEK as my identifier.

I guess life would be much easier if we can just be real and broadcast to the world who we really are, then maybe life wouldn't be so complicated. There would be no two-faced people, no back biting or backstabbing. The thing that irks me more than ever is when people turn out to be completely different from who they are especially when they project a certain image on the outside to the public when its all an act--- when behind closed doors, when no one is watching, they act out, and plot, scheme and turn out to be absolute fake people...complete opposites of who they project they are.

This got me to thinking. If we can wear who we truly are on the inside on the outside, what would your identifier be?
