Precious Illusions

But this won't work as well as the way it once did
Cause I want to decide between survival and bliss
And though I know who I'm not I still don't know who I am
But I know I won't keep on playing the victim
These precious illusions in my head did not let me down when I was a kid
And parting with them is like parting with a childhood best friend

I've spent so long firmly looking outside me
I've spent so much time living in survival mode

The word serenity is something that we understand in abstract and often not practice. As we begin to take care of ourselves and recover from our compulsive doing, we begin to experience moments of serenity. The first time we experience serenity, it may zip through our consciousness like a meteor and scare us to death, because this feeling of serenity is so foreign to us. After a while, we begin to recognize these moments of serenity as very special, and we try to make them happen through rituals, practices, techniques.

We are now not focusing on controlling the world, we are trying to control our experience of serenity... back to the drawing board. Control is control. But serenity is something you can't control. It's a choice you make. Serenity is a gift, it is available to all of us, we just have to choose it.
