Forever is a long long time
When you lost your way
Trying to follow your ideals (are sorry)
But your so-called life
It is such a waste
When you lost your way
Trying to follow your ideals (are sorry)
But your so-called life
It is such a waste
When you realize
No you don’t realize
What you say yes to
What you say yes to
No you don’t realize
What you say yes to
What you say yes to
....So lonely so pretty
Such a lack of diplomacy you can’t get out
Don’t you know
Don’t do it what you do it
You should do to me
When you realize
No you don’t realize
What you say yes to
What you say yes to
No you don’t realize
What you say yes to
What you say yes to
Far our so far out
Such a fall out of lonely
That you’re lonely
Going not so well....
Such a fall out of lonely
That you’re lonely
Going not so well....

One of my ultimate favorite songs from one of my ultimate favorite bands, Phoenix entitled Lasso. I love the upbeat melody of the song and I knew I was going to absolutely love it when I first heard it circa 2009. Basically the anthem of girls who don't know what they want... or the anthem for the girls who always get away. Cue in Manic Pixie Dream Girl References *HERE*
Laura Riding once said, "Until the missing story of ourselves is told, nothing besides that which is told can suffice us: we shall go on quietly craving it." Such a lovely and applicable insight, don't you think? Especially in my age where the so-called quarter life crisis in looming in, the to self awareness is unavoidable and filled with bumps and sinkholes. Probably the most important journey we will ever take is the journey inward. Because... unless we know who we are, how can we possibly offer what we have?
Each of us is a unique combination of nature, nurture and experience. No one else has to offer what we have to offer. Yet, if we do not have the "self awareness"to understand our uniqueness, we fail to make our contribution. One of the most disastrous effects of getting caught up in the norms of society and the quest for fame is that you never really have the time for the process of self-awareness... you get stuck in limbo and fail to develop and mature... basically you stay in the same mental and emotional age. Then, when finally, life beckons you to make that journey, you may be too exhausted to care...or worse, it might just be too late.
Know your story... all of it.
