LITTLE THINGS.
(DISCLAIMER: I apologize for the bruising on my knees, these were the effects of a very traumatizing and very recent injury that I had before December)
Some days I feel like I'm wrong when I am right
Your mind is playing tricks on you my dear
Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry
Our bodies safe to shore

This was a lagged post and this was what I wore to a nice family dinner over at the new Raffles Hotel, where we spent some great time bonding at The Writer's Lounge. Coincidentally the very nice staff of the hotel gave us a tour of the newly opened Fairmont/Raffles Condotel which bragged of topnotch amenities and amazing rooms. I love the place immensely and the 'library' look of the lobby was perfect, I realized for my outfit shot. The song is a new song entitled Little Things-- that I have grown to love from a band hailed as the next Arcade Fire, called Of Monsters and Men.
It has been a bit chilly lately and I chose to dress up a knit sweater with this gorgeous gold sequined skirt from my brand which instantly glamm-ed up the outfit.
My date for the night was my mom and my friend and well, he's practically family already, Ice who graced us with his presence, which I was absolutely grateful for as I am perpetually the third wheel of the power couple also known as Dominique and Enzo. It was refreshing to have a "date" for once, even if Ice is practically my brother as he is Enzo's best friend. I reckon I have been out of the dating loop for quite a while, considering I've been single for nearly half a year. I am not complaining though as I love my current status and refuse to settle down for anything less... than what I want. That's practically my credo in all the "LOVE" questions I am getting from my ASK.FM account which I have grown quite fond of, if it wasn't for all the occasional hating and bashing. As I soon realize, people are still bent on putting me down and bashing--- just because they have nothing better to do. I have so many things to look forward to, on the other hand. I am all about moving forward and pushing through... I don't get why people aren't so keen on that and can't just breathe and reboot... I also don't understand why some people who aren't supposed to be involved in something have such a hard time knowing when to let go.
Since we are on that subject, allow me to share my views as I love relating my blog posts to what is going on in my life. I have once read that, "In the end,, it's probably not the holding on that will summarize our lives. It is the letting go that will be of greater significance." After all, I realize, letting go is no easy process, especially for women. After all, have we not made our reputation with our tenacity, our stubbornness, and our ability to persevere against tremendous odds? But, probably, as most of us do not realize, one of the fall outs of being so involved in everything (even if you shouldn't be) is that we lose our perspective on what is important and what isn't. We lose the ability to discern what is a little battle and not worth our effort and what is an important battle where we need to stand our ground.
We dissipate and lose our energies on little things that don't matter much and end up with nothing left when we need to face up to the really important.
This loss of the ability to discern the small from the large issues is a disaster, and I for one, am happy that I have come to this realization, and learned to not let the little and insignificant things affect me. Do I comment and address the issues? Definitely. Will I waste my time thinking about it further? ABSOLUTELY NOT.
We need to be able to let go of the little things so we are there for the big ones. If we do that, then maybe we can discover much more bigger ones than we thought.
xx, JL
I think that what you posted was actually very reasonable.
ReplyDeleteHowever, think about this, what if you typed a catchier post title?
I ain't saying your information isn't good., but suppose you added something to maybe grab a person's
attention? I mean "Little Things" is kinda plain. You should glance at Yahoo's front page and note how they create article titles to get people interested.
You might try adding a video or a related picture or two to get people interested about what you've written. In my opinion, it could bring your posts a little livelier.
